About Us
Bid Art – a local auction house with global reach
Bid Art has been created to provide an online auction service with traditional values and expertise, which we combine with lean processes, that enables us to welcome consignments at all price points and of all periods and genres. Our model provides a solution to individuals and professionals selling whole estates or individual items.
Combining forces with Auctionet provides Bid Art with global reach and ‘back end’ facilities, whilst still enabling us to maintain our local and personal apprach.
We are able to carry out cataloguing, photography and viewing of consignments using efficient systems that make selling and buying with us a fast and professional experience. From the initial free valuations for sale to swift marketing with a target of selling and paying out vendors within a month of consignment.
James Harvey
James Harvey has worked in the art world for over 30 years, in London and New York for both Mallett and The Fine Art Auction Group. In September 2019 he was part of the team that launched The Auction Hub, the first entity in the UK owned by Auctionet.

In September 2021, James and his family moved to Scotland and launch Harvey and Woodd on Dundas Street in Edinburgh, a gallery specialising in 18th and 19th Century art, exhibited alongside traditional contemporary.

Through the gallery James and his wife Flora spotted a gap in the market. They were often approached by clients looking to sell work, that was not suitable for the gallery.

With first hand experience of how seemlessly the auctionet platform works for both buyers and sellers, James did not hesitate in approaching the Auctionet to request to join the platform, this time specialising in art.

James has been a member of the British Antique Dealers Association for over 10 years and previously served on the executive committee of the Society of London Art Dealers and a trustee of the British Sporting Art Trust.
